The November 17th ABWA luncheon will feature Camille Whitworth, former WDSU news anchor and local businesswoman.
Before joining the ranks at WDSU in 2003, Whitworth worked for WAVE 3 in Louisville, Ky.; WNCN NBC 17 in Raleigh, N.C.; as well as covering the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City for NBC. She is the recipient of numerous AP Awards and holds honors from the Kentucky Chapter of National Press Photographers Association for excellence in reporting.
Whitworth went on to contribute many successful reports for WDSU on issues around the Southeast Louisiana Region. Investigative reports include those impacting the area during Hurricane Katrina and in the historic recovery and rebuilding of the Metro New Orleans area. After Katrina she explored the Recovery School District. She went into every local school to uncover the dilapidated conditions and bad resources that the children are confronted with on a daily basis.
In March of 2016, Whitworth parted ways with WDSU and remains focused on her local business endeavors. These include being the owner of Victory restaurant, and the New Orleans Drink Lab. In addition, she she’s in the process of opening a new restaurant in the Treme neighborhood and intends to write a book about her time in the news business.
Whitworth will deliver a compelling and timely talk at the luncheon entitled, “Reinventing During Transition.”
The networking luncheon will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2016 from 11:00- – 1:00pm at Ralph Brennan’s Heritage Grill (111 Veterans Blvd.) The cost is $28 for members, $33 for non-members, and $40 for walk-ins (space permitting).
