January Luncheon – Julie Thomas

The January 12th ABWA luncheon will feature Julia Thomas, Physical Therapy Director at Slidell Memorial Hospital. Thomas will be speaking about, “How Stress InYour Life Affects Your Body.”

Thomas has been practicing since 1986, primarily in inpatient rehabilitation, home health and outpatient therapy settings. She holds a certification in Neurodevelopmental Treatment techniques and in Lee Sliverman Voice Treatment as well as a Certification in Kinesiotaping. Julia also performs evaluations for powered and manual wheelchair mobility and stays abreast of new developments in equipment and technology.

Thomas’ accomplishments include:

  • Serving as chairman for the American Stroke Association’s Stroke Awareness conference.
  • Designing and renovating office space when the outpatient therapy department moved from Robert Rd. to its present location.
  • Designing a rehab kitchen and bathroom at a skilled nursing facility facility.
  • Helping to write an application for the Malcolm Baldridge Award at a skilled nursing facility in North Carolina resulting in an award.
  • Facilitating CARF accreditation status for CMC’s Rehab unit, their first time to achieve this accreditation.
  • Helping to establish a seating clinic at Touro Infirmary.
  • Serving as Clinical Coordinator of Education at Touro Infirmary for 4 years.

Her primary role at Slidell Memorial Hospital is to ensure that excellent therapy services are provided in the acute, inpatient rehabilitation and outpatient rehabilitation areas. In addition, she helps provide Physical Therapy coverage as needed.
The networking luncheon will be held on Thursday, January 12th, 2016 from 11:00am-1:00pm at Ralph Brennan’s Heritage Grill (111 Veterans Blvd.) The event is open to all professional women. All attendees are encouraged to pre- register through the form below.
