Congratulations to Mershon Bergeron, of Region’s Bank, for winning this month’s President’s Certificate of Merit. Mershon has been active in ABWA since the first planning meetings, back when we were simply a formation committee with big ideas! She answers every request with a “yes” and in doing so, she has provided our league’s executive board (previously the formation committee chairs) with a board room for meetings, she is our official photographer, and she was invaluable in helping us to set up our bank account, which, as a newly formed nonprofit organization, was fairly complicated.
Thanks for all you that do Mershon!
Congratulations to this month’s recipient of the President’s Certificate of Merit. Following our recent elevator pitch program, given by the dynamic Desiree Young, Christi’s employer, Ricoh, held a company-wide contest to see who could come up with the best pitch for the entire company. And, Christi’s pithy pitch won! We are so proud of Christi and so pleased that she was able to apply something that she had learned at one of our monthly programs to her real life, and with smashing success!
The New Orleans branch of the American Business Women’s Association hosted a luncheon featuring Charlee Williamson, executive VP of Ralph Brennan Restaurant Group. Williamson spoke of her more than 20 years working with the restaurant giant, helping to take nine restaurants from concept to completion.
Desiree Young of VentureWalk Business Partners gave an energetic and useful presentation on “Crafting the Perfect Elevator Speech.” Attendees identified their own “pitch persona”and learned how to best utilize it in a business setting. After Desiree’s lesson, members had the chance to share their own pitch with the group.
What’s your “Pitch Persona”?
1) Shark: quick on your feet & sometimes aggressive
2) Dolphin: emotional listener
3) Seal: funny, life of the party
4) Penguin: educational & full of stats
The New Orleans advocate reported on the program here.
Most of you know Jodi Archer as the friendly face who greets and checks you in each month. However, that’s a tiny fraction of the work that she has done to get our league chartered, including filling out many tedious forms, creating a budget nearly from scratch, and setting up our account, which she did as Formation Committee Financial Chair. As Vice President of Finance, Jodi has simplified our luncheon payment procedure, kept up with our accounting, and sees that our league stays within budget. Many thanks for all of your hard work, Jodi!!
