Levees.org was created in October 2005 by Sandy Rosenthal to educate the American public about the cause of the levee failures and catastrophic flooding in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. She launched the grassroots organization in December of 2005 with the help of her then 15 year old son Stanford, who created the logo and the website. Since that time the website has had more than 900,000 views. Sandy and her organization have used many means, including social media, to educate tens of thousands of citizens nationwide on the facts surrounding the 2005 flooding. Her presentation will focus on how ordinary people can get involved and make a difference in their own community.
